About James

James’s Story

G'day, I'm James. Belconnen born and raised, been an electrician for over 10 years now.

After a decade working for various electrical companies in Canberra, I kept hearing the same customer complaints. Tradies who don't show up, don't return calls, and leave a mess behind. It seemed like such basic stuff to get right.

So in January 2023, I started It's Lit Electrical.

The truth is, I'm a one-man operation.

That means when you call, you get me. When someone shows up to quote, it's me. When the work gets done, it's me doing it. No apprentices learning on your job, no miscommunication between office and field staff. Just simple, direct, and straightforward service.

Proof of legitimacy

  • ACT electrical licence (Licence no. XXXXX)
  • Insured for trade work (Public Liability)
  • Operating as It’s Lit Electrical & Data  since Jan 2023 (10+ years in trade)
  • Owner-operated: quoting, onsite work, follow-up is all James

FAQs

Answers to common questions about scope, process, and expectations.

Give James A Quick Call
  • How long have you been operating, and how much experience do you have?

It’s Lit Electrical is a newer business, but the electrical experience behind it isn’t new (10+ years in the industry). The work is carried out by an experienced tradesperson who has worked across residential and commercial jobs prior to operating under this business name. What matters day-to-day is that the same person scopes the work, provides the quote, and completes the job.

  • What kind of jobs are you not the right fit for?

Jobs that require large crews, highly specialised industrial systems, or work outside the agreed scope are not always the right fit. If a job would be better handled by a different type of contractor, that’s discussed early so you can make the right call.

  • What happens if something goes wrong after the job?

If an issue comes up that relates to the work completed, it’s addressed directly. The focus is on finishing jobs properly and maintaining clear communication if anything needs follow-up.

  • Do you use subcontractors or pass work on?

No. The work is handled directly rather than being passed between multiple people. The person you speak to about the job is the person who carries out the work, which keeps communication clear and responsibility straightforward.

What 10 years in the trade taught me

After ten years of doing electrical work in Canberra, I’ve discovered what really matters to people.

  • You want someone who shows up when they say they will.
  • You want to understand what's being done and why.
  • You want your space respected? No mess, no damage.
  • You want it done properly the first time.

Sounds simple, right? Yet somehow it's rare enough that doing these basics well makes you stand out.

My Mission

At It’s Lit Electrical, my focus is simple:

Four starbursts.

Clean

I genuinely respect your space. Dust sheets, vacuum, proper cleanup - the basics that shouldn't be special but somehow are. Your place will be as tidy (usually tidier) than I found it.

Telephone with a speech bubble containing three dots.

Responsive

When you call, I answer or call back same day. When we book a time, I show up. When things change, I let you know. It's not complicated, but it matters.

Medal with a star inside, indicating achievement or recognition.

Quality

I use the right materials, not the cheapest ones. I follow Australian standards, not shortcuts. I do it properly the first time because callbacks waste both our time.
